Background

Ben Grinberg in early Almanac work

I am a proud graduate of the inaugural class of the Pig Iron School, graduating in 2013. I have been on faculty at the Pig Iron / Rowan University MFA in Devised Performance since 2016.

From 2017 to 2021 I was a founding core faculty member and Head of Performance and Artistic Craft at Circadium, the nation's first certificate-granting program for contemporary circus performance. I developed and taught a three-year curriculum merging Lecoq pedagogy with circus skills, and curated the Test Flights series.

As a performer, I have appeared in Pig Iron Theatre Company productions including Franklin's Key, Swamp is On, 99 Breakups, and Pay Up!; at Theatre Horizon in Peter and the Starcatcher and Hero School; and at Lantern Theatre Company in The Tempest. As a video collaborator I have worked closely with Jaamil Olawale Kosoko, Eiko Otake, and Zina Saro-Wiwa.
